In Te Maunga for the past few weeks we have been learning about soundscapes. I learnt that there are many ways to make sound with everyday objects and how they do it like in movies. For example when they want to make a thunder noise they would use a special type of leaves to make the noise.
Hi my name is Te Hauata and I live in Ohaeawai and I go to Ohaeawai School. I live with my mum, dad, sister and brother. I also have other siblings and family members that come to visit us. At school my favourite subject is maths and writing but personally I like all subjects. I enjoy everything we do at school, for example we do writing, literacy, maths and many other learning areas that I enjoy doing.

Dinorama
In Te Maunga we have been learning about dinosaurs. For our makerspace we made a diorama of a scene about dinosaurs in groups. In our diorama we made a scene about a Plesiosaurus just chilling in the water and we also had an Ankylosaurus just eating then a Tyrannosaurus Rex came over and started to attack it. When it attacked it got hit by the Ankylo’s tail. I had fun making and if you do it I hope you have fun too.

Geometry
1 month ago in Te Maunga we were doing stuff around Geometry. In geometry I learnt parts of a shape more about 3D shapes that I didn’t know about. One of the activities I did was a net and in the net you had to colour in the shapes on the piece of paper. Then you cut it out and fold it to make a shape.
Films
Around the end of August my class and I made a film for a film festival that was happening. First we learnt about filming to make our films so the teachers told us about shots, green screen, camera angles and the rule of thirds.

TREASURE HUNT!!!!
Last week the senior students at Paihia School had a treasure hunt. At a random time the senior students went over to the court and that’s where we got told the rules. After we got told the rules our principal let the youngest senior students go first. My friend and I were in a team when my mate and I went looking. We split up first so we could cover more ground then we looked at the little kids playground. After that we looked on the other little kids' playground. After we kept looking but found nothing then at the end one of the people found the last one where my mate and I looked.

Probability
In Te Maunga I have learnt about probability. I learnt that for some activities they weren’t as easy as I thought. Like in one of the activities you had to pick two cards and try to get a card that had a number on it that was in between the two numbers of the cards that you took. The chances of getting the card in the middle was pretty hard. For example pretend that you pulled out a seven and four you would have to get a 5 or 6. The chance would be 8 out of 38 because there are 38 cards with numbers and you have two numbers that are in between so the chance would be 8 out of 38.

Kindness Letter
For the past week Te Maunga has been making kindness letters. For the kindness letter we were writing to our Elders to cheer them up because they couldn’t go anywhere because there is a higher chance of them getting the virus. So we wrote a letter to try to cheer them up. In my letter I wrote a funny story about when we were dumping our rubbish, my father, brother and I were dumping the trash and then our dad decided to throw some of the rubbish at us.
